Scott has announced that Ursula XII is retiring after an incredible career.
Ursula, 17, owned by Lady Harris and Lady Kirkham, rounded things off with sixth place at the Rolex Grand Prix in Geneva.
Scott and Ursula have been together since 2012 and, in an outstanding run of success together, they won the CN International presented by Rolex in Calgary in 2016, the Doha Grand Prix in 2017 and this year’s Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Mexico.
Speaking after another impressive display in Switzerland, Scott paid tribute to the iconic mare.
“It’s a credit to the team and everyone to have her here in this shape at 17,” Scott said. “She felt like a young horse and I would have loved to have been finishing on a win but it’s one of the biggest Grand Prix in the world and she jumped amazingly, I’m really proud of her and she’s given me memories I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I’m delighted and proud of her.
“We wanted to retire at the top end of the sport. Geneva is a big arena and it suits Ursula and always in my own head it was going to be here. We have great reward in finishing at the top end of the sport in such good health and she’s going to enjoy a happy retirement and maybe have some babies.
“There are a few options going around but she’s such a wonderful mare I know that she would love a fowl so we want to give her that now and let her enjoy the rest of her life because she’s been such an incredible horse to all of us. It’s time.”
